All NJ TSA Advisors are welcomed to attend this open forum regarding future conferences and events for the 2012-2013 school year. Advisors will have the opportunity to ask questions and bring up concerns for future events as well as provide feedback for dates for future NJ Conferences.


Summer Pre-Engineering Teacher Academy
July 8-13, 2012

Designed for rising high school seniors interested in understanding how problems are solved through principles of engineering design and who want to prepare for a fulfilling future as a pre-engineering teacher, this week long academy is geared toward teaching engineering and technological literacy principles and how to make a difference in this exciting and high demand profession. Participants will get an introduction to pre-engineering teaching and the profession, have the opportunity to meet with distinguished faculty, educational leaders, and teachers, experience making a difference in a student’s life first hand and participate in team building exercises in this creative atmosphere.


Sustainable Energy: Exploring Wind & Solar Power Systems
July 9-13, 2012 

This five day institute for 24 middle school teachers will blend middle school science concepts for renewable energy with hands-on engineering designed to raise awareness of the challenge of using sustainable energy resources to meet world demand.

This is a collaboration grant from PSE&G and the New Jersey Science Teachers Association’s (NJSTA) eighth annual Maitland P. Simmons Memorial Award Summer Institute.


Engineering byDesign™ Summer Academies
July 2-27 and August 6-10  (full day sessions)

This workshop series provides year 1 Engineering byDesign™ New Jersey pilot cohort teachers with 40 hours of meaningful, hands-on training designed to prepare them to integrate the entire 8th grade (Technological Systems) or 9th grade/introductory HS (Foundations of Technology) course into their classroom curriculum for the first time this fall. These sessions are ONLY for teachers that have officially joined the EbD™ Year 1 Pilot Cohort.


CTEP Pilot Group Training Sessions
August 13-17 (full day sessions)

Schools who will be piloting the new CTEP curriculum in their schools beginning in September will be required to attend a pilot group training session to get background information and the first steps to beginning the new school year with this new curriculum.


Future Engineers Summer Camp is Back!

The Future Engineers Summer Program is back for 2011! The hands-on STEM program is now funded by the PSE&G Foundation, with support from the College of New Jersey and the Boys and Girls Club of Trenton/Mercer County. Future Engineers – PJ Hill 5th Grade Girls Design Flashlights
