The Center’s Integrative STEM team brings a wealth of experience in working with School Districts on Integrative-STE(A)M teaching pedagogies. Integrative-STE(A)M teaching pedagogies bring a new paradigm to teaching & learning through the implementation of design-centric Problem/Project-Based Learning which deeply engage students and educators in authentic problem-solving experiences that integrate content across STEM and non-STEM disciplines. Integrative STEM methods directly impact and are critical components of the Next Generation Science Standards, Common Core, and 21st Century skills.
For over 6 years our Center’s Integrative-STEM team has provided services in (i) Teacher Professional Development, (ii) Teacher Coaching, (iii) Curriculum Design and Implementation and (iv) District consulting on Program Planning, Facilities Design, and Strategic Planning. We have worked with over 2,000 teachers on STE(A)M Education. Approximately 2 years ago the Center expanded its Integrative STE(A)M work to include Computer Science (CS). We have completed CS professional development for over 800 teachers in a wide variety of CS topics, and we are now NJ’s Regional Partner for Code.org. Our Code.org efforts include comprehensive training for over 200 teachers in Code.org’s high school CSP and middle school CSD curricula. We have also started 1-day PD sessions in Code.org’s elementary CSF curriculum.
