Rollercoaster Workshop

On December 15th, the Center for Excellence in STEM Education held a workshop that showed educators how to build a rollercoaster out of paper, foam insulation, and any other found objects. Linda Burroughs, an Elementary Education professor at the College of New Jersey, specializes in Science Education for children. Professor Burroughs presented this workshop for about 25 attendees, consisting of local science teachers and other educators from New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

All of the workshop participants worked in groups and constructed their own rollercoaster that would successfully hold a marble for the entire duration of the rollercoaster’s track. Participants were encouraged to use different materials from around the room to elevate areas of the track and to make their coasters as unique as possible.
